How to become a personal trainer in Lewes

If you live in Lewes or anywhere in East Sussex, you can qualify as a personal trainer without travelling to a classroom every week. Our Level 2 & 3 Combined Diploma in Personal Training is taught through a fully video-based learning platform, so you study from home at your own pace.

You get a dedicated 1-to-1 mentor, weekly live support calls and monthly workshops. Theory exams are taken online, and you can film your practical assessment and upload it, so there's no need to travel for that either.

Most students qualify in 10–12 weeks studying around 3 hours a week. Once qualified, you can work in gyms across Lewes and East Sussex, or start your own personal training business.

The Lewes fitness scene

Working as a personal trainer in Lewes

Lewes is a small town with a big appetite for fitness. Rather than one or two huge gyms, it has a cluster of independent studios, boutique training spaces and a busy leisure centre, which suits trainers who want to build a personal, word-of-mouth client base.

Price guides put personal training in East Sussex at roughly £40–£55 a session. With the South Downs right on the doorstep, outdoor sessions, walking-and-strength groups and small bootcamps are also a natural fit for the area.

We are a Sussex-based academy with our own gym just down the road in Ringmer, so Lewes is home turf for us. Brighton, Newhaven and Seaford are all a short trip away too, which means you can grow a client base across this part of the county as well as in town.

Independent gyms and studiosGo Fitness on Brooks Road, Soulfit on the High Street and Body Happy on Friars Walk.
Personal training studiosSmaller PT-led spaces such as The Body Workshop on Brook Street and Totalfit Personal Training.
OutdoorsThe South Downs and the town’s parks are popular for outdoor one-to-ones and small-group sessions.
